Everything's going great until Federica, her childhood friend, comes back to town crushing all her plans. Actually, Gaia gets more nervous every day and she is troubled by some strong emotions that she can't understand. With the help of her eccentric grandma, though, she will figure it out by accepting her feelings and herself.
CONCEPT
Cactus was born from the desire to portray adolescence not as a time of certainties, but as a season of unexpected discoveries. Gaia believes she has already chosen her path — her first time, her sexuality, a clear sense of who she is — but the return of her childhood friend Federica upends every plan and brings feelings to the surface she doesn't yet know how to name.
The short film follows Gaia on a journey toward self-acceptance, accompanied by the unexpected, complicit presence of an eccentric grandmother. With lightness and sincerity, the film captures the moment when recognizing what one feels becomes more important than any plan, offering an authentic and tender portrait of self-discovery.
